Dershowitz also ignores the "context" described by Rafael Lemkin in his seminal work on the techniques and stages Axis genocide. Your staff report on the Israeli imposed news blackout in Gaza states:

1. How does anyone "massively" suppress reports of casualties that amount to four (00004.00) in four years and about three or four more recently? Do you consider 4 a "massive" number in comparison to 1000 in 2 weeks? Or do you mean to suggest that Hamas suppressed with lots of kilos?

2. How does Hamas suppress news of casaulties that occured in ISRAEL? (Sderot, in particular) Are you claiming that Hamas somehow reached over the ghetto wall and prevented you or your professional bretheren in Haaretz from finding out the casualty rate in Sderot?

3. You are wrong wrong wrong wrong to report that Hamas violated this ceasefire. Even Haaretz acknowledges that it was violated by Israel.

Israel, now attacks the Vatican for calling attention to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. Israel has gone too far. It forfeits any claim to sympathy or the moral high ground. The U.N., the I.R.C., Amnesty International, the World Council of Churches, Canterbury, Constantinople have all condemned Israel's policy of starvation and disproportionate response as contrary to international law.
